praise God!

brooklyn was able to go home last night. her oxygen levels are in the normal range but she still has to be able to breathe normally. she breathes from her side, not from her chest. my sister will be giving her treatments for the next 5 days to open her lungs. please pray for her to get better. if she does, then mySS and i can meet her next friday! :)

a prayer request

my littlest niece brooklyn (4 weeks old) has been in the hospital since wednesday night. she's sick with some kind of viral infection. the doctors have no idea what she has.

prayer items:
1. brooklyn's oxygen levels to go up. her oxygen level is only at 70%.
2. her lungs will be cleared of mucus. right now, you can hear the mucus "crack" when she breathes.
3. that she will be able to nurse.

for my sis:
1. she has only had 2 hours of sleep since wednesday night. she had a terrible ordeal at the simi valley hospital. thank God they transferred her to a better hospital that has a peds unit this morning.
note: never go to simi valley hospital if you are in that area.
2. she will be able to nurse brooklyn. she has little milk.

hopefully, brooklyn will be able to come home in the next 2-3 days. i haven't been able to meet my newest nice and hope to go down to visit this coming week.

thanks for your prayers.

i had the hardest time leaving this one on the shelf 'cuz it was cuter than the rest.

there were actually some really ugly ones but i spared you the pictures. GREAT DEAL at ~$9 each. you TOO can own your own gnomie! although, i prefer my miniature ones for my minature gnomie world. ;)

dum diddly dum

i'm taking one of my many breaks from writing my proposal. it seems that i only have an attention span of 20 minutes for writing and then i get up and get distracted for a long time... ok, back to it, for another 20 minutes. ;)

yahoo mail users beware!

i can't believe how cruddy yahoo mail was until now. i was expecting an important reply from my advisor for over a week. i sent him two more emails afterwards for his response. i was very worried because i haven't heard back from him and thought the worst (he hated me, my topic, and never wanted to talk to me)! thank goodness fifi recommended me to call him and i did today. he told me he DID send me a reply and i never got it. the whole week i was doubting my new proposal topic and school. plus i was getting really delayed emails and heard from others at cg last nite that yahoo was eating-up emails. the culprit was yahoo! grr!!! well, now i feel like a weight has lifted-up from me and now i can go back to working on my revised proposal.

yahoo mail!!! now, i have to deal with gmail's un-U(ser-friendly)I.

---
fyi. long story short: i had to change my proposal topic (topic idea #2) b/c it wasn't graduate level enough. i found that out after i worked on it and even showed my advisors the new proposal. There's actually more to that story but i won't go into details. i discovered how i miss the bigger picture when i have my mind made-up on things. i hope that doesn't happen again.

i'm really looking forward to what i'm working on now. the topic will be revealed later, after it gets approved. ;P

pleasantly surprised

i just finished watching in her shoes with toni collette and cameron diaz. i was pleasantly surprised by the subtleties in the movie. if anyone has read the book, i have no idea if it's like the movie. from what i remember (i think i read the book 2 years ago) it almost follows the book. what won me over was...don't hate me for this...the closet. :P i love how the shoes were "hidden" behind the clothes on shelves. that is my dream (shoe) closet. of course, you would have to maintain the shoes by cleaning them after each use. alright, on to the actual part of the movie. it was neat to see how the characters were revealed/grew/changed through the movie. i know it was pretty predictable but still a bit of delight to watch. especially when cameron diaz's character changes for the better and interacts w/ the old folk. ok, i'm going to stop giving so much of the movie away in case someone actually wants to watch it.

btw: cameron diaz is aging quite...rapidly. i couldn't help but notice all her wrinkles. toni collette is aging more gracefully except for the bags under her eyes. man, i'm getting old when i notice those things.

taking the "high(er) way"

'Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.’
Lev. 19:18

something happened earlier this year that is really testing my patience and love. i thought that a conflict reached an all time low a few months ago and it subsided. ever since, i have been praying and hoping that the conflict would reach its end, even if the results are not good. as Christians, know we should take the “higher way” and to love our neighbors regardless. the conflict has risen again and hit rock bottom. my hope is diminishing. i thought i could understand and believe in the good of people, especially when they are Christians. it really puts the phrases “talk the walk” vs. “walk the walk” in perspective. i am trying to take the better way. when I see people close to me hurt again and again by those who say they are Christians, it makes me want to go the other way. are they truly "walking the walk"?! i’m stumped.
