cuteness

i called my sister today and london answered the phone. i asked her how she was feeling because she has pink eye and a fever.
this is wat she said:
i still sick. you have to pray for me.
2 cute!
i can't believe the cutest/grown-up things she says for only being a 3 year old. i sure miss those kiddos.

argh, no more dirty dishes!

i have been my mom's "right-hand" for these past two days since her right shoulder went out of commission. two weeks ago, she had shoulder surgery to repair her tendons from a nasty fall. note: get rid of rickety chairs!! my dad was assisting her since she had the surgery. unfortunately he left yesterday morning. now it's my turn to be the "assistant". i can't believe how many dirty dishes two people can produce. i'm already going crazy from washing dishes! EVEN if the dishwasher helps half of the time. hm... how long will i be able to withstand this? i think we'll be switching to disposable plates and cups soon, if i have my way. i think i have 3 more weeks before she can start using her right shoulder again. eeks. i can't believe i came home tonight to a sink full of dishes after the fact that the dinner dishes were already washed. augh. someone save me.

one positive point to my mom's disability is that i had to learn how to make chinese white radish and taro cake. i can't believe how much effort it takes to make those two cakes. i shall say, never again! my hand still hurts from chopping and yes, it was painful to see all the dirty dishes accumulate in the sink just from the preparation! ack.

yay! two more DAYS! :)

real-life apprentice

i feel like i'm on the apprentice in a 16-week class called project management. we have 6 projects and all but the last one are in teams. i'm in my third team this week. every project progressively lasts longer. the first project was 60 minutes, the second one 2 weeks, and now the third lasts 3 weeks. see a pattern? i can't believe how crazy the turn around time is. we get assigned crazy projects, have to document everything, be super creative (that's the major competition between grad students) AND work in different teams! crazy boot camp team training. oh, and on top of that we get individual homework and readings! i feel like this class is the equivalent of 3 classes. ack. so much for my nice relaxing last semester.

i was up in SF again today to meet up w/ my team. i was introduced to this cool junkyard store called building REsources. we bought a sink, metal garbage can, shower head and pipe all for $10. guess wat we're gonna make? a hydroplanic plant cart/fountain. i'll take pics when we're done. if you can't tell already, this project is about reinventing old products into new reusable products. take that, this season's unimaginative apprentice teams. :P i bet my classmates would win all the tasks this season. heh heh.

where have i been lately? i went down to LA this week to visit the cutest kiddos in the world (hm, am i biased? :P) i think they ARE pretty cute and well-behaved compared to most of the kiddos i know in my small world. they are quite quirky and funny. 5 month-old holland loves to laugh and talk. cuteness.

me: london, do you want to visit london?
london: why would i want to visit myself?
-london, age 3

btw: my parents and i drove up 101 from ventura and wowzers, it's a beautiful drive! green, green and green and rolling hills! tra la la!

happenings

my first day of school officially started on monday. i was not too excited to start cuz my break was so long. i was also used to doing practically nothing and just traveling. :) my brain has turned into mush the past month from low brain activity. i am semi-excited to start school now. for my last grad class we're studying project management. i know it's gonna be an interesting and good learning experience. i'm giving myself this last week of freedom. next week i'll start doing school work. hee hee! i can't believe i'll be done SOON! ack. the dread...

so some of you know i went back to MN for a high school friend's wedding. i was not looking forward to this trip because it was something like -10 the weekend before. well thank goodness i hit the "heatwave" of 20 degrees AND to top it off, the first major snowfall of the season. i stayed with my "big" aunt for 2 nites and had to speak chinese and watch chinese tv for 3 days! my aunt only speaks chinese. man, i had to dig up my chinese from i dunno where. my mom, aunt, cousin Lisa, and i were snowed in for the most of friday. it was very cozy sitting on a lazy boy, knitting, and watching chinese tv on a 40something" lcd tv all afternoon and evening. dang that tv was huge. my cousin almost bought a 52" plasma tv and wanted to hang it from the ceiling but it was too big. crazy.

what did i do in MN? let's see...friday, we went to visit my other cousin's dentist office, then went shopping. saturday, i went shopping, oh yeah, went to my friend's wedding, went shopping again during the break before the reception, and sunday i went shopping before we left for home. yup, that sums it up. i was so sick of shopping i wanted to um, puke. :P surprisingly, i didn't buy all that much. :P the best clearance shopping IS in MN during the 2nd-3rd weeks of january, i have realized. i went there the same time last year and that's wat i did as well. the best deal was buying a lambskin leather jacket for my mom for only 50 dollahs! i can't believe how much clothing stock there is in MN compared to CA. you would think CA would sell more clothes b/c of the population. but i can see why MN is the land of shopping cuz there's nothing else to do besides shop or stay at home in the dead of the winter. btw: MN is also the land of 10,000 chinese buffets! they are eVERYWHERE and $6 for lunch and $10 for dinner! crazy unhealthy!

i didn't take much pics this trip but i do have a bunch from all my travelings this winter. um, some day they will be uploaded. heh.
