big sur 10k fun run (10/25)-->accomplished! beach action and carmel!

yay, i did it! i ran 6.2 miles! geo, cal, maria, and i ran the whole time! my time was 65:53. i finished a little earlier than maria and geo. ;P cal blew us away by finishing in 45 mins. i can't believe i ran for that long. prior to the race, i thought i was going to walk part or all of it. unbelievably, through lots of prayer (every one minute) and mental blocking i kept my lil' feet running. during the race, i swore to myself i would never run again. but now, i feel like i could do another 10k in the near future. we shall see how my ankles hold up. what helped the most was the various bands playing at different points of the race: string trio, mariachi, and jazz.

this day was another perfect relaxing day. afterwards, we headed to pfeiffer beach which is a hidden state beach that had limited parking. luckily, we didn't have to wait long for a parking spot. this beach had lotso cool things to see: huge rock formations, tide pools w/ sea anemones and purple crabs, and purple sand! we spent a few hours there but didn't stay for the sunset. :( we left right before. ah wells...i s'pose i have a lifetime.

dinner time arrived and we headed north to carmel. we ate at lucy's which is a posh family restaurant/bar. it was OK. the rib eye was pretty tender/tasty. unfortunately my roast duck was hecka tough. even lil' wu didn't want to eat it! i finally chewed a piece of duck which left a nasty taste in my mouth till sunday morning shudder. 25 bux down the drain.

all in all, a very nice day and a huge accomplisment. i sure am proud of all the runners! turkey trot (5k/10k) anyone?

i think i have daylight savings lag. yesterday, i woke up at 6:30 am. today, i woke up at 7:30 am and became ravenously hungry at 11am. my bedtime has no effect on how early i wake up. weirdness. i guess don't mind waking up early and pondering what am i going to do with all this time?

LA again, a bone to pick

yup! went down to LA again to visit the kiddies. they sure are growing up fast! london is still having all these diagnosis leading to one thing to another. endless cycle of patience and testing. recent results are that she could have something wrong w/ her stomach/intestines. she'll have more testing done tomorrow. i think she has had a test every other week. poor lil' gal. we need lots of prayers for her!

why is there always a heat wave in LA when i go down? so sad. i spent a huge part of the weekend seeing what/where parents take their kiddies. we ventured up to santa barbara to the zoo and beach. i have never been to SB and i am in awe of how beautiful it is! the zoo was surprisingly cool. you can get really close to all the animals and they have a huge variety. i got to see a sloth 5 feet away with no barriers! sadly we went when it was almost closing so the majority of the animals were put away. sniff. i definitely would go back there. afterwards, we headed towards the beach and rented those fun looking bikes that can seat 6 under a roof. $25 per hour was a hefty fee but very enjoyable. after 10 mins of pedaling, we were dead tired. the kiddies sure enjoyed the ride. sunday, we ventured to chuck e. cheese after church. i think the last time i've been there was...wait...i've never been there before! dang this place is sure a money maker. spend $30 to eat greasy pizza, win two sticker sheets, a small plastic airplane, and 5 pieces of candy. wow, what a deal. i learned that kiddies really love this place. it's fun to see the pure enjoyment on their faces when they win tickets, ride rides, and play video games.

i have a bone to pick! over the past year there has been an onslaught of engagements/weddings. these are very joyous events and i am very happy for the couples. recently, i've noticed a correlation between these special events and turning 25. i think those two items have left an alarm in my family members' heads. that notion has resulted in some funny dialogue.

example 1:
"you should visit other churches/fellowships to meet ppl NOW. it's ok when you're 25 but not when you're 30."

example 2:
"i'll give you $1,000 to lose 60 pounds."

example 3:
"doesn't mom know anyone you can be introduced to?!"

i have been highly amused by much of this dialogue. of course there's that hard hitting fact. yes, ppls, we're not getting younger anymore. i think at every moment of time through college and post-college i have been the only single of all of my friends. i am quite happy to say that i don't mind it at all. i enjoy being independent. i can honestly say that i have been jaded by a lot of failing/weird relationships amongst many of my friends. perhaps that's why i am slow to this part of my life or that my shyness takes over. i think it's mostly the latter. sometimes i wonder if i was in the victorian age...would it be any easier to be "called" upon? well, those are my 2 cents on singleness. i think i would be a pretty good nun too if it comes to that. not joking!

toilet fetish?!

toilet fetish?!

ever thought of someone having a toilet fetish? well, i discovered that my classmate has one! we were presenting our textile projects today and the gal whips out this cool looking kimono. taking a closer look, there are toilets printed on it! she explained how much she thought toilets were interesting. which cracked us all up. she even wore her toilet shirt. the lid lifts up and there is an ahem, cartoon that resembles poo. hah! later on i asked her where she got the shirt. turns out it's from a night market in taiwan! must search for that shirt when i go back. :P

i love my textiles class! unfortunately it will probably be my last one since i need to take other classes that pertain to my program. so sad. sigh. i've thought about switching programs but i shouldn't. the common-sense part of me knows i should stay in graphic design. the textiles program is also 3 years. woe is me.

what is textiles class you ask? it's a mess of things ranging from printing, dyeing, painting on fabric to basket-making to weaving. ie. all the things i love to do with passion!

10k run->2 weeks
no mom at home!

hm...run? yea rite!
goal b4 the race: 3 miles in 35ish mins.
reality: hah! i tried to run today it was more like 2 miles in 25 mins.
all i can say is thank goodness my ankle didn't hurt!
we'll see how i do in these next few weeks...

yay! my mom is in kauai for 1.5 weeks! yay!
oops, i shouldn't say that...i mean boo! my main source of food is gone! boo! it's actually refreshing to have to plan meals 'n stuff. i can proudly say that i keep the house cleaner when my mom is gone. i actually vacuum, take out the trash, dust, etc... i finally learned how to use the new vacuum. it's actually quite cute. it's a very hip blue/grey color and you have to tow it around which reminds me of a dog on a leash.

the nU SF azn art museum

if you feel the need to visit the new asian art museum...don't bother!
here are my reasons:
1) the admission fee is pricey ($6 for students, but free on every first tuesday of the month).
2) parking is a hassle and pricey ($2 per hour).
3) the museum is smaller than i expected.
4) the collections are so-so. if you have gone to a few asian countries or your mom likes to buy fake antiques you've seen it all. :P
5) i spent more time trying to find parking than i did in the museum (took amy and i 25 mins to look at everything).
6) it took me a hour to drive from sfsu to downtown! :O

i bet you're asking why in the world did i go to the museum?
1) it was a field trip for my textiles class. it took me 1 minute to look at the stuff i was supposed to look at.
2) i was curious to see what this museum had and wat all the hype was about. good thing i decided not to become a member earlier this year.
3) i do enjoy visiting museums. i guess asian art is not my thing. but i will say that the minneapolis institute of art (MIA) has a really good collection of asian art which i enjoy. lotso cool jade stuff. props to the midwest having a decent museum!

golly, gee! that was my fun and exciting experience at the museum. if you feel the urge to go visit, by all means do so! but i did warn you!


sf is a white blanket of nothingness

i can't believe how hecka foggy it is in sf! i was driving down portola ave and all i saw was a blanket of white over the city! it was like nothing was there! unbelievable! dood, i don't think i'd be able to live there. how depressing-no sun! it's so odd to drive home from darkness to light. me likes my sunshine.

fo dinnah, i ate flied pok chops 'n okra mixed in with pad thai 'n spinach. i was supposed to be making dinnah fo my ma but she ended up stayin' in the kitchen 'n fryin'. hm...next time i should bar her from the kitchen so i can have some culinary freedom. :P

this is what the last two days consisted of:
completing 2 projects ( i hate flash, but it's pretty cool), wedding invitation (never again!), 2 at&t visits (sucking 2 hours of my time), sore throat, it's FREEZING in SF! AND to top it all off...i have to RE-enter everyone's phone #'s in my cell. i found out i only saved the #'s to the phone NOT to the sim card! AUGH. wat else can i rant about? oh, there's much more but i'll spare the details.

some day i'll show ya'll wat i am doing in my flash class. i'll do sumthin' i won't be ashamed of.

on the brighter note...i am starting to enjoy skool.
