found it! (slapping hand to forehead)

thanks for everyone for their concern regarding my cell phone! i found it! i got home...lo and behold, it was sitting on the kitchen counter. i don't remember how it got there and why it would be there. when i thought back to when i last had it, i remembered having it at church and turning it off as i walked to service. i can't believe how my mind works. i need to upgrade it but it's degrading too fast. ;)

earlier in the morning on the way to church, i was listening to k-love. they were saying "are you a mom who wanted to have a nice day for their kids at a park with a picnic? at the park, you discover you left the picnic at home and locked the keys in the car. you think, i should've stayed at home and it wouldn't have happend! don't forget that God is with you and not to be angered to so quickly." at that moment, i felt proud because i never forgot anything so important at home, lost anything, or locked my keys in the car (not that i can remember of) to ruin my day. coincidence or not, i "lose" my cell phone almost at the same time when i'm proud of myself for not losing anything. hrm...

back to square 1

i've slipped through the cracks. sometimes, i don't think i will ever finish grad school. i'm starting over, back to square 1. this week is a new beginning... i am going to start working part-time and re-working the thesis. i feel like i'm in a room with its lights off finding things in the dark. i must pray for the light to go on with patience and perseverance!

and her name is...

brooklyn! :D i finally had a chance to speak to my sis and she told me she had a water birth! meaning she had birth at home in her spa tub w/ a midwife and NO drugs! can you believe it? she had the baby in less than 3 hours when contractions started. now that's the kind of birth experience you want. brooklyn was two weeks early. praise God for a safe and healthy delivery! i can't wait to meet her at the end of march! :)

etiquette 201

we all know the main rules of etiquette 101:
1. guys opening doors for gals.
2. don't talk with your mouth full.
3. don't chew and make smacking sounds with your mouth open.
4. saying please and thank you.

what do YOU do when:
1. you notice someone's pants zipper is open, especially if it's a person of the opposite sex
2. the person you are directly talking to are eating while their mouth is full and eating with their mouth open.
3. someone doesn't wash their hands after they go to the restroom.
4. there's a piece of food on a person's face.

do you tell the person or keep it to yourself? if it's a repeat offense, do you just get really disgusted and not say anything?

i remember someone telling me when i was younger, that i smacked my mouth while eating. the harsh words still ring through my head. to this day, every time I eat I try not to chew with my mouth open, talk with my mouth full, or make smacking sounds. i feel like these three "bad manners" are related to the asian culture. i have seen a lot of asians with these manners. since i am so aware of it, i get super disgusted. i just try to deal with it. i feel like the disgusting sight is more worth it than telling the person and sounding rude. plus, if the person has been doing this all their life, they probably won't even change it even if it is "bad manners".

what would YOU do?

mr. gnome: hello, dear. how are ja doing?
mrs. gnome: wondeeful, dear. how come you look cuter than i do?
mr. gnome: actually, i think we both look quite hideous. why is my hand in my pocket?
mrs. gnome: why are my hands juxtaposed together?

mr. gnome: i have a gift for you!
mrs. gnome: ugh! not another gianormous candle holder.

moseying along with His direction

i can't believe 1/12th done of the year is gone, already. here i am moseying along but surely with some sort of direction. yes, i have finally started working back on my thesis again with daily and weekly goals. yes, i will be applying for graduation this semester (thank God for the grad dept. mailing me the application! otherwise, i'd have to pay a late fee). yes, i will take care of something i have been putting off for awhile (it may or may not open a can of worms. still praying about it). i praise and thank Him for putting my foot forward with the thesis and showing me there is a light at the end of the tunnel. i just need to suck it up and get it done! i don't know what i will do at the end of the tunnel but i have trust and faith. thanks for all your support and "friendly" reminders. :P

a humbling reminder

have you felt proud of yourself because (1) you feel like you've done something good, (2) even something better than someone?, or (3) you feel spiritually better than someone because you helped them with their walk? don't forget whatever you have done well is only by the grace of God. we must remember only the Lord is the true judge of you and your spiritual growth.

12 We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise. 13 We, however, will not boast beyond proper limits, but will confine our boasting to the field God has assigned to us, a field that reaches even to you. 14 We are not going too far in our boasting, as would be the case if we had not come to you, for we did get as far as you with the gospel of Christ. 15 Neither do we go beyond our limits by boasting of work done by others. Our hope is that, as your faith continues to grow, our area of activity among you will greatly expand, 16 so that we can preach the gospel in the regions beyond you. For we do not want to boast about work already done in another man's territory. 17 But, "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord." 18 For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.
2 Corinthians 10:12-18

Comparing your life with someone you see
Is not a fulfilling quest,
For Jesus’ own words are “Follow Me.”
And that’s how to know life’s best.
