bread and tulips, cannes award winner, italian film w/ subtitles, an unbiased commentary
rating: pretty good!
using my second to last 10-week rental from blockbuster, i ended up with this movie. i picked it purely by the desire to watch a foreign film and the cannes award. i didn't consult my personal movie expert (a friend who watches every movie that is watchable). i told her about it and she said it was good (if she remembered correctly). i was quit happy about it before watching it! :P bread and tulips, i bet you are wondering what a weird combination. the tulip part was explained but not the bread which has left me puzzled. i shall consult the movie expert. unless the huge hunk of bread left on the table for breakfast explains it. ok, i am moving towards my commentary...this quirky film has a bit of humor which is very pleasant. i found myself laughing out loud at a simple line or action. the story is about an italian housewife who gets left behind at a bus stop on a family vacation. she travels to venice because she has never been there and is on the road to self-discovery. interesting characters, dialogue, and scenery makes this movie pretty good! i was very pleased with my choice.

let's see which movie i will end up with this week...this will mostly likely be the end of my frequent commentaries.

btw:dorothy the goldfish is dying! it has black spots now! tis will be a sad experience for the kiddies (who have not noticed the black spots).

i must confess...i have been drinking coffee ever since i got back from kauai. so shameful. i am enjoying "pumpkin spice" hawaiian coffee at this moment. ahh! the aroma! it makes me feel good (for about 20 mins).

o(h)klahoma here i come! no, not the musical. the state, for reals! hee hee. i get to go visit my two little cutie patooties and dorothy the goldfish (let's hope the original dorothy will still be alive)! but i'm not going till mid-january. i can't wait to see what this homefront will be like. i've only heard stories about this place from my sista. now, i will be able to know what she's been talking about in OK! january seems like such a long, long time from now...

monday...the office greeted me with an interesting smell that caused me to cough and gag. i thought i located the source of the problem: a musty smelling mop in the restroom. unfortunately the lovely smell still lingered. speculation is that it smells like a dead mouse (ew!). i call it a "musty" smell to ease that idea. now, the smell is gone but there is still that hidden scent. i hope it doesn't become a permanent part of the stale office air. i will survive!

on the brighter side...last nite i went to SF for a praise nite. even if it was for a short time, it was nice to travel 45 mins to a different environment. i keep telling myself i have to get out more often and enjoy SF-but of course, it never happens. so many things i could do...so many things i don't end up doing. i must make a pledge to myself, from this day forward i shall get out of the norm (my fingers are crossed behind my back)! welcome to my world...

powerpuff girls, the movie, biased (due to age) commentary
rating: hm...ok!
yes, i know what you are thinking. but can i help regress to childhood? i am adult enough to admit one of my guilty pleasures. bold, colorful, cute, animation with evil villans and semi-interesting plot lines (yes, i said PLOT!). this action packed (made me kinda naseous) movie introduces the basis of how PPG's (powerpuff girls) were invented. the professor wanted to create good lil' gals. they were to be made out of sugar (bubbles), spice (buttercup), 'n everything nice (blossom) AND oh no! chemical x (which was accidently spilled in by the monkey). mojo jojo (monkey, evil villan) was accidently re-transformed (with chemical x) in the professor's lab at the same time. these characters are considered as "freaks" in the town. but of course PPG's prove themselves wrong. if you are mildly interested in PPG's-skip the movie. i found myself wishing the movie was 30 mins long (that's all i can stand of a cartoon). otherwise, it was ok!

whew! just finished a rough version of a powerpoint presentation. i get to mess around for a little (while it's being checked over). dontcha luv internet radio? i am listening to michelle branch singing the game of love with santana. i like this tune, tis quite catchy. i can't believe it's thursday-it really feels like tuesday since i just came back to work yesterday. i feel like i am in a time warp.

i'm getting pretty bored over here. i am so nice that i dare not to bother anyone over im! :P oh my! i have to share this piece of juicy news. i was looking through the wal*mart ad last nite and wah la! they are selling CARE BEARS!! i was so shocked to see them. my childhood came rushing back to me. altho i never owned a real care bear (i had the sew-yourself ones) i can tell you i am so tempted to buy one! i shall resist. speaking of childhood toys i have a confession to make (besides the fact i drank a cup of coffee today)...i rented powerpuff girls, the movie! yes, i bet you are rolling your eyes. my guilty pleasure. i started watching half of it yesterday. the movie is a bit slow but the eye candy of bold shapes and colors were so pleasing! i can't wait to find time to finish it. hopefully tomorrow. i will def. give my commentary on it. mojo jojo, you evil conniver!

yay! i'm back in business-website all bettah! :)

the optometrist vs. the baker
while vacationing, i came to an ephiphany-do i really want to spend the rest of my life behind a desk and computer? i often find myself restless and bored. i am a person who needs "action" (rather someone who has a short attention span, ha ha). having spent a decent amount of time with the parental units i asked them what the thought if i became a baker. the great parents they are-they supported my idea which i was remarkably surprised. somehow becoming a baker didn't feel right being asian and all (you know the asian drill: success, use your noggin, make your parents proud, yada yada...). then, i brought up the idea of becoming an optometrist. of course they LOVED that idea. i took that initiative and looked up berkeley's school of optometry website. i came to the conclusion that i needed to take 10 classes of undergrad to take before entering optometry school (due to my graphic design major). my rising dream was demolished within seconds. a slap back to reality. for i am ever so confused with i shall do with myself...any suggestions?

kauai, hi, an unbiased commentary (a request, you know who you are!)
rating: beaches galore, 4 days of paradise is enough for me
don't hate me but yes, this is my 3rd time on the "garden" island of hawaii. my father, a tranformed islander, gave my mother and i the great tour of all the beautiful beaches in kauai. we stayed at one of the best rated beaches in the usa-poipu beach. i think i spent a total of 20 minutes in the ocean. the stinging sensation of salt on my lips and scraping my leg on the rock kinda killed it. for the first time i "body surfed". i recommend knowing the beach and where the rocks are. i quite enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi at the resort. altho the regulars at the resort were meant left to be unsaid for. i could go on and on but i'll keep it short. kauai is a great place to visit, there's a guava plantation with yummy ice cream, great beaches, not too many restaurants ($$) to choose from (you can ask me for recommendations)-don't expect good service, coffee is great (yes, i drank some! forgive me.), the island is small enough to drive around in one day, and try to keep out of the way of resort regulars-they can kill the friendly hawaiian atmosphere. ahi tuna sashimi! nummy!

aloha! i am back from a short vacation. my ma and i were in kauai visiting my pops. i will write more about it later...i am very confused to why my blog page isn't working correctly! i wonder what happend to my column on the right side. i checked the template and all the links 'n everything seems ok. i just dunno what happened! any clues, hints, anyone? help? s.o.s.
