i just made a really gross discovery...our brita pitcher was growing ALGAE on the INSIDE bottom portion! at first, i thought it was green from the green towel we put it on. i took a closer look, dumped the "filtered" water, swiped my finger on the bottom AND it was confirmed: GROSS GREEN ALGAE growth! EWWW! We usually clean the pitcher every month but now...oh man, i am going to be paranoid. this is my PSA announcement CLEAN your BRITA WATER PITCHERS regularly EVERYWHERE (at least once a month)! for those hard to reach places, use a toothbrush. how effective is the brita filtering system anyways?! i'm think i'll just drink good ol' PA tap water from now on or boiled water, forget the brita! bleh.

update: thank goodness the drips stopped! it took more than a week after the rain ended! i hope it doesn't rain again...now i have lovely watermarks to count when i go to bed instead of sheep. ;)
