adventures in biking
today i took the (because of less traffic-y memorial day) opportunity to ride my bike to michaels! i thought it should be easy peasy and boy, did i think wrong.
the adventure:
2 minutes in: i pushed the "walk" button and didn't prepare myself fast enough, i ended-up walking across the intersection. :P
3 minutes later: one of my shoes fell off, yeah that could only happen to me. luckily it was not on a very busy street.
~i crossed the train tracks without any mishaps.
7 minutes later: i almost get hit by a prius backing out. i was thinking how great would it be if i got hit by a "green" car and i myself was trying to be "green" by biking.
~i crossed san antonio rd. and made it safely to michaels. i saw a bike rack at michaels on my last visit which prompted me to bike today.
back HOME...
1 minute: i hit this nondescript ginormous pothole on charleston! grr...i was so paranoid i got a flat.
20 minutes: made it home safely (still thinking i got a flat but didn't!) with the blessing of mostly green lights my way! :D

i learned a few lessons during my 45 minute trip to michaels.
1. make sure you have someone to call to give you a ride in case you get a flat. i was thinking about who i would call the entire time. it would probably help if you knew how to change a flat, which i don't. heh heh.
2. be ALERT! i had to be alert and paranoid the whole time watching the traffic.
3. bring water. i thought i was going on a short ride and my little gulp of water left in the bottle helped.
4. prepare to be sweaty when you arrive the store. ugh, i do not like that.
5. bring a good bike lock(s). since i love my bike, i was very paranoid it would get stolen. but i knew michaels customers are the greatest and wouldn't steal my bike! :P
---
i definitely will consider buying a bike basket so i can bike to 24hr and bring back fresh produce from milk pail! :D
